about me & my Writing cv
James karantonis
lover of science, fiction & science fiction
So you’ve stumbled across my website, and you’re thinking, ‘who is this? I’ve never heard of this person! I was just trying to search for my favourite band “The Mind Vault” on youtube.’
Well, I’m a rookie trying to make it into the big world.
A lover of science fiction (don’t get me started on time travel or I’ll froth at the mouth).
My bookshelf is filled with my inspiration. You’ll find mostly classics such as Isaac Asimov, Philip K. Dick, Arthur C. Clarke, and Stephen King, as well as more recent authors such as Ted Chiang, James S. A. Corey, Cixin Liu, and various short story collections.
I have just finished a draft of my first novel; it is a sci-fi thriller in space titled The Dividing Pair (working title). If all goes well, you’ll see it on shelves in the next 30 years or so!
I’m all about the brain and human relationships in both my writing and my studies. I’ve completed my PhD in cognitive neuroscience and my masters of clinical psychology. I examined cognition and brain structure in psychosis spectrum disorders, specifically in schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. I still have nightmares about reading my thesis and finding that I accidentally wrote time travel into it. I hope to turn the dream of being an author into non-fiction.
